Parlor Social releases new song advocating for Suicide Prevention

For Suicide Prevention month, Dessy Di Lauro and Ric’key Pageot have released their new song, ‘Not Giving Up On You’ advocating for more awareness over this growing national issue. Suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States, claiming the lives of over 47,000 people. Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 54. There were more than twice as many suicides (47,173) in the United States as there were homicides (19,510).

Here’s a statement from Parlor Social: ‘‘As artists and music creators, we have a responsibility to speak and convey our truth through music. We've been there. We know the struggles with these thoughts and dealing with depression and pain. The support and love was detrimental in Dessy's life and we hope that this song will be a source of hope, support, love and encouragement to make it through the toughest days. We hope it will help and prevent someone from taking their own life. We love you. We hear you. You are not alone. You will make it through. You are a fighter! You are strong.’’

If you or someone you know is having these thoughts, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255

Please share this song if you know someone that needs a little encouragement today. It's a Free Download on Soundcloud and you can stream it on all major digital music platforms.
