This is why the real music fan loves to see live shows. Yeah, you can go and listen to all that New Jack Swing created by the impresario of that sound, Teddy Riley for groups such as Guy, Wrecks ‘N Effect and Blackstreet. And sure, you can hear Dessy DiLauro bring back fond memories of Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savanah Band by recrafting that sound in her own image for the 21st Century. DiLauro has this creation called Neo Ragtime that merges the vocal arrangements from the 20s and 30s ragtime and swing with contemporary R&B arrangements and production techniques.
However, a live show creates those cell phone video moments where Riley graces the stage with the band Parlor Social (DiLauro and husband Rick Pageot) for a rousing rendition of the Blackstreet classic “No Diggity,” and thanks to the gift known as YouTube, we get to look in. Check it out.
