MAY 21, 2018: Ahead of their Playboy Jazz Festival performance at the famed Hollywood Bowl this Summer, L.A.-based duo PARLOR SOCIAL, with vocalist Dessy Di Lauro (Cirque Du Soleil, Dreamcar) & keyboardist Ric’key Pageot (Madonna, Cher) will release their new single, ‘Got The Heebie Jeebies’ on JUNE 1, 2018. Inspired by Louis Armstrong’s 1926 hit song, Heebie Jeebies, Parlor Social continues to stay faithful to their unique brand of speakeasy-soul music, adding a southern and tropical rhythmic flavor that will make listeners worldwide want to get up and dance.
‘Got the Heebie Jeebies’ begins with a faithful interpolation of Armstrong’s original performance with cornet, dobro guitar, clarinet and other popular instruments of the prohibition-era. Then, right before the live drum groove drops, Pageot channels his inner Satchmo as he belts out ‘Got the Heebie Jeebies’, and the song sets off to its’ summer feel- good vibes. The track continues with Di Lauro’s signature sexy laid-back bluesy vocal phrasing as she expresses her giddiness for her love-interest. The song’s performance rawness is a stark contrast to Parlor Social’s previous release, a lush rendition of the classic ‘I Put A Spell On You’ which featured a 20-piece live string orchestra arrangement written and conducted by the legendary Benjamin Wright, known for his orchestration work on Grammy-winning albums such as Michael Jackson’s ‘Off The Wall’, Justin Timberlake’s ‘20/20 Experience’, and Outkast’s ‘A Love Below/Speakerboxx’.
‘Got The Heebie Jeebies’ is the second single from Parlor Social’s forthcoming album, due for release later this year. Fresh from their tour of North America that included venues in Atlanta, GA and the Charlotte Jazz Festival, the duo is set to perform at the 40th edition of the Playboy Jazz Festival on Sunday June 10th at the Hollywood Bowl.
